The first floor features a spacious living/dining area with super-comfortable sofas and armchairs. An antique refectory table easily seats 14. There is an open fireplace and plenty of logs. The balcony has stunning views over the valley to the mountains beyond.
Off the main room is a well-stocked library with a good supply of books and board games. Two cosy armchairs and matching footstools provide the perfect spot to spend the afternoon, while looking at the panoramic view down the valley. There are backgammon and chess tables and a Bose CD player.
There is a separate candle-lit, intimate small dining room which can be used for small groups and as a study.
The kitchen features marble worktops, a Lacanche range and Miele appliances: two dishwashers, two fridge freezers and a microwave. It has plenty of le Creuset casseroles, sharp knives and baking equipment, and lots of Emma Bridgwater crockery and Villeroy & Boch china. A real cook’s kitchen.
There are also two double bedrooms on Gueret’s first floor:
The Terrace bedroom, has pretty painted furniture and a 5 foot brass bedstead. The en-suite bathroom has an oversized claw foot bath, hand shower and separate walk-in shower cubicle. French windows open onto a garden terrace.
The Napoleon bedroom, has an impressive 5 foot carved wooden sleigh bed. It has an en-suite bathroom with an oversized claw foot bath, hand shower and separate walk-in shower cubicle. French windows lead onto a private balcony and a lovely view of the valley and mountains.
“The chalet is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it to anyone – really spacious, had everything we needed… I really couldn’t fault it in any way. ” Mrs C, winter 2016
