Behind and to the sides of luxury self-catering Chalet Gueret, meadows and forest rise up to the magnificent Alpine wilderness of the Roc d’Enfer. Yet Gueret is on the very edge of the pretty village of Essert Romand, and only a few minutes stroll from its ancient church and auberge (with a bar and restaurant). While not remote, it feels a world away from the bustle and crowds of either Morzine or Les Gets. However, the shops, bars and restaurants of these resorts are only a short drive or taxi ride away. They also boast cinemas and ice rinks, while Morzine has an indoor swimming pool.
By contrast, Gueret itself is utterly peaceful with breathtaking views down the Montriond valley towards Chatel, and over Morzine towards the Swiss border.
Essert Romand is an easy 75 minutes’ drive from Geneva airport. If you prefer not to drive, we have negotiated a discount with transfer company Skiidy Gonzales.
Access to the chalet is not difficult, but it is up a short hill from the village. The road is snowploughed though if there has been a fresh fall of snow, you may need to use snow chains (a legal requirement in France), unless you rent/bring a 4×4.
